ex machina

day 296: odin coming to a magazine stand near you! ( probably).

well, it's been in the works for quite some time, delayed for one reason or another, but it looks like you'll probably be seeing odin's adventures in a magazine stand near you sooner rather than later. or maybe that's later rather than sooner given how print publication deadlines work.

i can't release the name of national magazine and it's always possible that they won't end up running the story, but the paperwork is almost signed!

odin is still chewing on the contract. literally. but i think he's going to give me the greenlight.

relatedly, if someone wants to float me a hefty advance for a book, i'm sure i could convince odin that it'd be a savvy move. ( joking. sort of. )

Hi Eric,
I think a book deal would be a great idea - I will keep my fingers crossed. I am actually commenting because I have a question for you. I have been meaning to send Odin a postcard/package for awhile, but now that you are moving I am not sure how to get it to you. Will you set up another PO Box when you move? Our son, Jack, is a 24 weeker and we have been following Odin's story for a long time now. You have really helped us cope with our son's early birth and all the trauma that goes with it - and we would like to send something to thank you and your family for being so generous by sharing Odin's story. If you wouldn't mind getting something from us -let me know how we can get it to you (aingalls at gmail dot com),
-Amy

hi amy,

i've been getting this question a lot lately through various channels so i'll respond here. the p.o. box will still work after we move at least until end of may and likely for awhile after that. i imagine whenever we settle somewhere for awhile i'll set up a new address.

i'll always update the original postcards from budapest post to reflect the proper address.

and finally, thanks so much for thinking of sending odin a gift. it's never expected, but always appreciated.

best wishes to you, jack and your entire family.

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
