ex machina

if you look closely you might see the look of playful suspicion in his eyes.

that's right, mauja is no longer anticipating snow since we're forcasted to get up to 12 inches ( 30.5 cm ) over the next few days. i guess it's not surprising that his winter coat has grown to a wooly warm thickness - the bulge on the right side of his head is actually almost all fur that is padding his shoulder.

when the snow flies he gets quite playful and if you look in his eyes you might be able to see that he's looking at me wondering if i'm going let him tackle me. it's a subtle look, but i know it's there :-)

if there were more snow on the ground i might be up for some roughhousing but neither one of us is as young as we used to be, so i'll hold out for more fluffy padding.

HA HA HA Big Dogs and snow!!! Everytime the temperature drops around here Nells gets wound up waiting for the white stuff!!

Nells coat is plumping up too..big thick stuff that's nice to put cold fingers in after an outing!

This is Nells second winter. Last winter we discovered using her "chuckit" (ball throwing device) to scoop snow and toss snowballs for her. She absolutely loves it!

Oh the tackling!! I am not so young..but Nells is! She is like Mauja and gets that glint..then barrels at you with such happy anticipation of rough housing. There is no stopping her once she has started the motion! It usually ends with me getting a good ear cleaning though too! LOL!

Mauja looks so spirited in that picture. It just must be the snow!!

toodles

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
