the eric update - day 105: a 15 week birthday! odin versus the inchworm! and a busy week.

odin has been practicing his crawling moves lately and today, on his 15 week birthday, we decide it's time for him to compete against the lamaze musical inchworm. before the race starts mauja give odin a little moral support.

malamutes are thoughtful like that.

despite some dirty tricks on the inchworm's parts, mauja steps in and ensures that odin is able to beat the inchworm fair and square!

it's a good thing he's focusing on getting stronger because we have a big week this week. tommorrow, we'll be travelling across the state to detroit, michigan for an specialist consult to see if odin needs more eye surgery. and then on tuesday we go back to the hospital for his inguinal hernia surgery. and if everything goes well, we'll be out of the hospital on wednesday in time for another peds doctor appointment.

phew.

I just wanted to thank you for your journal. I became the mother to a 28 week preemie on the 19th of September due to pre-eclampsia. Your journal has been a great wealth of information and also has given me a great outlook on our Darsie coming home.

shannon - congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! while i know there are many different groups of people that visit the site, it makes it all more than worthwhile when new micropreemie parents write to tell me that they've found odin's adventures informative and useful. if you ever need any advice or just want to vent please don't hesitate to contact me. you also might want to think about joining the yahoo preemie discussion list as it's filled with lots of people who know exactly what you're going through.

and kristen - thank you so much for dedicated mile 20 of the chicago marathon to little odin! i have big hopes of perhaps training for another marathon and raising money for the march of dimes. i don't know if you know that i ran in the chicago marathon last year and i hope you had a fun time. it really is one of the best marathons in the country.
