the eric update - day 126: a boring sunday! no-cry sleep solution?

a perfectly boring sunday! what could be better?

all the excitement these days happens at night. while he's spending more and more time awake during the day, he's more awake during the night and quite regularly he's most awake between 3a.m. and 6.am. and sometimes in those wee hours of the morning, he's generally inconsolable unless you're holding him. constantly.

it might be time to go back and review the principles of "the no-cry sleep solution" so we can all get a little more sleep :-)

We had great success with co-sleeping -- there's no reason you can't catch some Z's with the little feller balanced on top of your chest.

yeah, we have an actual co-s leeper ( in the sense of the physical thing that sits next to your bed ) but we've been known to the type of co-sleeping you're talking about - although it's generally frowned upon by the "establishment" while he's attached to leads and still somewhat of a wee one. you gotta do what you gotta do to catch some sleep, i guess :-)

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
