and now for somethign completely different. i just can't not point out that popular photography named nikon d70 as camera of the year.
after shooting thousands of pictures over the past 5 months, i still love the camera. and if it can turn me into a passable photographer, just imagine what it could do for you ( it's funnier if you imagine an infomercialized voice )!!.
now, if nikon would just get it's act together and sponsor this blog the world would be perfect :-)
all ( sort-of ) kidding aside, it's hard to remember what life was like before digital photography, flickr ( and blogger, without which this would be impossible ( or at least very, very difficult ).
I have a Fuji Finepixs S7000, which I love being quite the beginner. Plus I don't have a captivating subject like litttle Odin! Here is my favorite subject:

, atNot everyone has $1000. to buy a Nikon D70. There are a lot of other digitals out there a lot less expensive and most likely easier to use.

while you're certainly correct that not everyone has the spare change or the desire to spend $1,000 on a camera; in fact, as i said when i bought the camera, i won't be getting much by way of birthday or christmas presents for a long, long, long, long time. somewhat amusingly, i kept pestering kris about buying the camera for my birthday - using the excuse that it was "for the baby" - far before odin's original due day. little did i know less than a month later how handy the camera would be.
but if you're more than your casual point and shoot photographer and you already have an investment in nikon lenses ( which i did ) then you'd be well advised to to check out the d70. it was named
camera of the year for many good reasons.
heya annie!

the complete tales & poems of winnie the poohthis site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.
he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.
if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
