the eric update - day 150: another rsv shot. over nine pounds! snug bugs.

could it possibly be that a whole month has passed and that it's time for his next rsv shot? indeed, it could be.

of course, in order to know how much to give him in the shot, they nurse that comes to the house has to weigh little odin.

we were pleasantly surprised to see that he has blown past the 8 pound mark and even the 9 pound milestone and tipped the scales at 9 pounds 6.5 ounces or 4.2 kilos!

it's no wonder it's getting harder and harder to carry him around with one arm!

eventually it's time for the rsv shot after we wait for about 20 minutes for the medicine to mix thoroughly. odin lets out a little squeal as he gets the shot, but he's quickly gets over it and starts making cutesy eyes at the nurse. the nurse comments that it's been a pretty mild "rsv season" so far, meaning there haven't been an abnormally high number of cases. but it's certainly better to be safe than sorry.

we took care of odin's cousin again today and for a very brief period there was a calm during the storm when they were both sleeping in odin's crib, looking like the very epitome of comfortableness.

Heavy!! Ha ha--wait 'til he's 30 lbs, hanging off your hip, trying to grab the shiny bag of candies in the check out aisle.

that picture of the two babies sleeping together is luscious. So beautiful.

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
