ex machina

the eric update - day 154: twenty two weeks and three christmas trees.

we managed to get all the trees upright ( pictured are three of the four ). now we'll see if we can get them all decorated before christmas day arrives.

little odin is doing a variant of what's been described as the vanna hand as he shows off the new conifers in the living room.

and even though he just celebrated his five month birthday yesterday, we still think it's o.k. to make note that he's also exactly 22 weeks old today, in chronological, non "age adjusted" terms - of course.

they look beautiful un-decorated like that! I'd go for simple lights and not much else. georgeous! We're opting for a tabletop tree again this year, as we have a curious cat and two year old - maybe next year :)

What colour is Odin's hair, exactly? It looks a wee bit strawberrish...suspiciously reddish :).

Very cute.

it's hard to tell, but you're right it emily it does look suspicously reddish. but sometimes it looks more blond then red. there's a lot of strawberryish, blondish, reddish hair in both our families so it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

i have dark, dark, dark hair so it's been a little difficult to imagine a little toe head for a son. one of those funny things, i just assumed the dark hair genes always won over the blond hair genes.

I think that if you didn't have any blondes or redheads on your side of the family, then Kris's lighter colored hair would likely be outweighed genetically. But, Odin may have gotten the recessive genes from your side, and then combined with Kris's genes, you end up with a toe head.

And even though his hair may darken as he gets older, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a redhead. I'm a bit partial, though, as I am one. :-)

funny you should mention that, over thanksgiving we were discussing little odin's hair color and my dad reminded me that there were a lot more blondes and redheads on our side of the family than i remembered - so i think it's quite likely that his final hair color will end up somewhere on the blond/red end of the spectrum. i'm not sure he'll be a full-blown redhead ( not that there's anything wrong with that! ), but i can see some pretty strong red highlights showing through just like his mamma.

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
