the eric update - day 201: socks are overrated.

no, those aren't baby uggs ( what?! you don't know about the waning(?) ugg boot craze? ) on his feet. they're zutano fleece booties from the red balloon company.

we've had them for awhile, but they're a little big, so today was the first day that we tried them on. and you know what i learned today?

socks are overrated.

even the good ones are constantly falling off his feet. and when they fall off they disappear into some sort of alternate sock universe never to been seen again. but not the zutano booties. the easy adjustable snap keeps them snugly on his squirmy feet. now, if we only had 15 more we'd never have to go back to socks again.

thank you so much annie. i know there are lots of people visiting but for reasons that are hard to pinpoint, hardly anyone wants to comment - so it's nice to see someone i know has been visiting since the beginning delurk and make themselves known :-)

have a great weekend!

You just need a pair of Robeez (I think the website is just www.robeez.com). There is probably a store near you that even sells them. We love the Robeez. My daughter is on her third pair/upgrade:) I give them as presents to all my friends having new babies. They are magic. They keep the socks on. Fleece booties are going to be too warm in a couple months, but the Robeez won't make his feet too hot.

Actually, once winter is over (seems like that will be forever), our kids generally declare that clothes are overrated. Our first son spent his first three months at home lounging around the house in nothing more than a diaper and occasionally a swaddling blanket. We had all these "cute" clothes for him and he didn't wear any of them.

Our smaller one put up a fuss this evening about wearing PJs, so we just let him run around before bedtime with no clothes on (luckily the sun has been out so the house wasn't freezing). I think they like being nekkid.

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
