the eric update - day 243: the grab and put in mouth game!

over the last month, odin's, grabbing and grasping skills have really taken off ( unfortunately for kris, he appears to enjoy honing his skills by ripping out tufts of her hair. ) only a month ago, he'd occasionally grab and things that you dangled in front of his face, but mostly he just like to look at them - but no more! naturally, i guess, as he gets better and grabbing and manipulating objects, he's moving along to the next stage which involves putting everything he grasps into his mouth.

so, to help aid him in both endeavors, we picked up a skwish classic from the manhattan toy company.

it has become an instant favorite and just might snatch "favoritest toy" status from the crinkley, orange book and the inchworm.

Our baby loves his Skwish too! It was a shower gift so he's had it his entire (short) life and I can't believe how sturdy something with elastics can be! We recently got him a Woozit from the same company and that's a huge hit too (but I think Skwishy will always be number one).

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
