the eric update - day 271: odin's spring collection.

if you're a parent and you have a bricks and mortar gymboree store near you, then chances are you might have already browsed the pickings during their super mega 70% off blowout sale. i think we were able to purchase more than enough spring and summer outfits for odin for about two bucks. o.k. maybe just a bit more, but not much.

while the gymboree clothes are perfectly adequate, we've noticed there's not much variation in boy's clothes styles amongst the bigger box clothing outlets, with all of them pretty much the same styles - endless varieties of amouflage, trucks, sports and "future rock star" shirts and matching pants. surely, there must be other options for boys clothes that are fun and individualistic, but don't cost a fortune ( as much as i like the red balloon company, i don't think i'll ever spend $50 on a wonderboy "coolio" shirt ).

daddytypes has a nice starting point ( hmmmm. a google onesie for $11.75! ), but there must be others.

oh, and yes, he's sporting a new hat.

We've started accumulate some odd t-shirts for my 15 month old son.

He's got a few from the zoo which are nice, and my favorite is his Little Lebowski shirt. heh. There are some cool website with funny (and often time inappropriate) clothing for babies and toddlers.

ha! thanks for the links, amy. some of those shirts definately won't be found at your local big box store :-)

i might have to pick up a few of those for laughs.

I have found myself stocking up on T's (long and short sleeve) at the Gap. You can often find them on clearance for only a few dollars - and the quality is great... But the evil lure of Gymboree keeps me coming back. So much so that the manager let's me shop out of the backroom now - LOL!!!

Another fun option is Icky Baby & Pepper Toes! Oh, I love their stuff. We purchase Icky Baby Lounge sets from the local Marshall Fields. You can always find deals on the sale rack - no way could I pay retail at $46/lounge set! As for Pepper Toes and other high end boutique brands, check out Nordstrom Rack... You can really stock up on some nice things - and zutano is always on super sale there.

Can I just say this... DARN YOU GYMBOREE AND YOUR FROGGY SET!!! I bought the whole layette - my last cling to the "baby, baby" clothes!

Ummm, don't get me started on shopping - I have a serious OCD with Strollers, Diaper Bags & Baby Clothing!

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
