the eric update - day 310: mister serioso tackles the stairs! almost.

nope, mister serioso is still not crawling, which doesn't really concern us in the slightest. but he's so close that it's hard to not anticipate each and every time that we put him on the floor that he's going to scoot himself quickly to the other side of the room.

while we patiently wait for that milestone, odin has been doing his best to impress us with how strong he his by pulling himself up and on to whatever might look like it could provide an interesting obstacle to overcome. which of course, leads one naturally to attempt the seemingly insurmountable stairs.

someday soon when we're continually admonishing him to not to attempt to climb the stairs all by himself, i'll remember today as the day that he he came very, very close to climbing his very first step.

I'm anxiously awaiting that coming moment :)

Sorry to hear about the teethign woes :( Kyle cut 4 last week - the entire top row (total of 7 now)!! I'll pray you have a better time with that. I have no advice on what to use, because he wouldn't let us try any of the ointments. Ugh - Teething *cry*

BTW - I don't think I've seen an update on how big Odin is getting now. How much does he weigh - how long is he :) Is he getting tall - inquiring minds you know - LOL.

7 teeth! woman, i ask ye, where are the pictures?! :-) how quickly did all 7 come in? i secretly wish that odin will cut his teeth all at once so we don't have to drag this out for too long ( but i can't say that out loud because if i do murphy's law will dicate that his teeth will come in as slowly as possible. really, i'm not superstitious ( he says, crossing his fingers ).

yeah, *our* inquiring minds want to know! we haven't had a weighin or length measurement since his last surgery. i can't remember ( gasp! ) how tall he was, but i think he was about 16 pounds, which was an impressive gain since his nine month checkup. we'll keep you posted when we have new numbers :-)

He cut the first 3 teeth between the end of Januray & February - each one two weeks apart from the other. We've been working on the top row for two weeks, then they ALL crowned last friday (visibly out).

The problem with the pictures is severe oral aversion. He doesn't let us touch his mouth - not even to bite me anymore (yes, I've been bit - I think daddy has a battle wound). You should see the tricks I have to pull just to see what he has now - LOL... We play tickle monster, hokey-pokey, make the fish face - I even have to resort to raspberries, just to sneak a peek :)

Pictures - not likely, LOL.

Well, I can't wait to see where he's at. That is a nice gain!

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
