ex machina

the eric update - day 323: a visit from an internet friend! or we're mostly harmless.

today was an extra special day because odin and us had the opportunity to meet lori, a long time reader and postcard sender from palm harbor, florida who was nice enough to let us know that she was going to be in our part of the world and invited us to meet for a cup of coffee and conversation.

we had a great time and we're happy to report that maybe, just maybe, there's another person in the world who can vouch for the fact that we're reasonably normal people and won't embarrass you too much in public if you take the initiative to invite us out for coffee :-)

all jesting aside, words are often inadquate to describe how much we appreciate the support we've received over the past year from "strangers" and if lori is any indication, you're an even nicer bunch than we ever could have imagined.

and i'm not just saying that because she surprised us with a new hat or odin!

thanks, lori!

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
