the eric update - day 370: go west young man! to the midwest!

it's hard to believe that an entire month has passed since we made the trek to down east maine and now it's time to move on and the galaxie 500 is packed and we're ready to hit the road tommorrow morning.

hopefully it'll be less adventurous than the last time :-)

where are we headed? back to the midwest! we had always planned to go back to grand rapids, michigan for a family wedding during the first week of august and we've decided to make the trip a few weeks earlier than we intially planned. and while we thought there might be some small chance that we might be able to stay in the snowdeal ancestral homeland a little longer, after a month of living out of a suitcase, we've decided that it's time to move on. we've had a grand time adventuring around maine and it's sad to say goodbye, but we're excited to spend the next month or so planning The Next Great Adventure.

what will we do? where we more permanently drop our familial anchor?

stay tuned :-)

unlike our last trip, i won't have a cellular internet connection that allows me to make updates from the road, so it might be a few days before you hear from us. we'll keep family members updated and maybe one or two of them can let all our "internet friends" know that we're safe and sound and not stuck on the side side of the highway.

our day has been filled with packing and saying goodbye to family, so i've run out of time for a proper post, but you can see some photos from the rest of the day by clicking here.

For all of you who are patiently waiting for Eric to update his travels back to Michigan, he just called to say they are near Albany, NY where they will probably stop for the night. Odin and the Galaxy 500 are both doing fine **knocking on wood**

We will attempt to keep you posted until they get back online and can tell their own story.

As of 7:45am, the little adventurer and his posse will be leaving Albany for the midwest.

Keep the good thoughts flowing, especially for the Galaxie 500 :-)

They are still heading west. The Galaxie 500 is still running, and Odin is still being precious. Stopping in Cleveland tonight, on to Michigan Tuesday.

Thanks, Grandpa Eric, for the updates.

Sorry to keep you all in suspense :-( The weary travelers rolled into Grand Blanc Tuesday afternoon and arrived safely at Grammy Pam's in Grand Rapids Tuesday evening around 8:oopm.

I thought E3 might post more details before now, but hope you all understand how hectic his life is right now with the unpacking and all.

Please stay tuned...

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
