the eric update - day 394: The Incredible, Edible Egg!

maybe one or two of you might remember that not so long ago we learned more than once that odin and eggs didn't agree with each other and eventually decided to completely keep them out of his diet fearing that perhaps he might have a mild allergy.

given the fact that egg and egg by-products are in just about everything imagineable we thought we might take advantage of odin increasing ease with eating chunky solid foodstuffs to see if he'd outgrown his aversion to eggs or whether we'd be needing to be ever increasingly vigilent about keeping them out of his diet.

odin devoured the egg so quickly and seemed to enjoy it so much that i'm not quite sure he was entirely happy when it was all gone. but we didn't want to give him too much fearing a potential allergic reaction.

and i'm happy to report that after several hours we're quite confident that odin has outgrown whatever it might have been that was causing him such trouble!

life will hopefully be just that much easier without having to worry about keeping his diet completely free of eggs.

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
