the eric update - day 405: monsters incorporated?

what's so remarkable about this captured moment is not so much the fact that odin seems completely oblivious to the television playing monsters ,inc; which is, in fact, quite remarkable since he is enthralled with the television whenever it's on, regardless of the quality of the content ).

rather, the really remarkable fact is that he's surrounded by his cousins ella, jagger and bryce who are in various stages of of recovery from a summertime cold which odin's super strong immune system appears to have fought off successfully!

even though we're a little less fearful about odin getting a cold than we were just a few short months ago, we probably wouldn't have wanted him playing in such close proximity potentially contagious cousins; but both jagger and ella were fully recovered and when i snapped the picture i had no idea that within a few hours, bryce would be knocked out with a fever and chills.

we'll become hyper vigilent when rsv season returns, but for now we're quite happy to see proof that odin's immune system can fight the good fight - and win!

and yes, i know i'm tempting the fates with this post, but it's been over 36 hours since i took the picture and he's still as happy and healthy as ever :-)

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
