ex machina

the eric update - day 412: no, he still doesn't like to wear socks.

it's hard to believe that cooler weather will soon be returning to western michigan so we've been trying to get odin, who has always had a barney rubble sense of style, to get accustomed to covering his feet at least with a pair of socks.

it looks like we'll have a bit more training to do as he thinks it's great fun to try and take them off. he had some trouble removing this pair of super stretchy socks, but it certainly wasn't due to a lack of trying on his part.

we could try and put some shoes on him to try and stymie his sock removing escapades, but for now that just seems to make him more upset than it's worth since he figures out rather quickly that there's no hope of him getting them off in a timely manner.

at least with this approach we can keep him preoccupied during car rides :-)

And if you can get him to wear shoes, it will only be a short time before he learns how to take those off too!

Growing so big and looking so cute!

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
