more mauja meds

yeesh. between having a mysterious seizure or two, losing a buddy, getting skunk'd, nearly drowning and developing a supposed interdigital cyst, poor mauja has had quite an exciting-in-a-not-so-good-way year.

and if that weren't enough, he's developed some sort of nasal blockage. it's impossible to get a good look at what's causing the trouble without sedating him and taking x-rays ( read: expensive ) so we're hoping that it's just a transient infection that's inflaming his nasal passages that will get cleared up with a round of antibiotics and steriod shot.

the vet thinks it's "probably" not a tumour, but it can't be ruled out especially since we never did find out what was causing the the seizures.

it seems to be irritating him a bit less today, but he's rubbed his nose raw presumably trying to scratch the unreachable itch.

we'll just hope that the meds do their thing and we don't have to make a decision about what to do if they don't.

Hi guys...

Was just checking in after taking a break myself. We are moving ..across town.."the dog needed a yard so we bought her a house" type deal only she gets a koi pond and a hot tub too! The hot tub should be lovely in these frigid february maritime winters!

Odin seems to be getting the best out of life daily due to your wonderful nurturing ways.

Just wanted to give Mauja a little support and hope he is feeling better. It is a bit of a scary scenario although hopefully just a minor thing.

Autumn is such a lovely time for dogs and kids...brisk air that demands activity.

BTW...from one flyfisher "salmonista" to another - "tight lines"!

toodles

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
