the eric update - day 533: santa's little helper.

we were a little hesitant to go on a family outing to celebrate christmas consumerism not because kris and i have vastly different and conflicting shopping styles - which is, in fact, true - but rather because we weren't sure how odin would tolerate the long lines and the noisy, boisterous atmosphere at a local shopping mall.

but much to our surprise, after becoming quickly annoyed with being constrained in the stroller, instead of attempting to dodge this way and that while we shopped, he instead took it upon himself to help us push his stroller around and was generally oblivious to all the people stopping to smile as nothing it seemed could keep him from his appointed task.

needless to say, his walking skills have been rapidly developing in the past few months with most of the progess happening quickly after thanksgiving. it's nice that he's so focused on being a Little Helper because i think sooner rather than later he'll be able to outrun us :-)

His little plaid shirt is so cute.

My husband insisted on buying our 22 month old some cowboy boots (apparently there is some unwritten rule around this area that all little boys have to have cowboy boots whether you are a cowbow or not), and of course pairing the boots with little bitty jeans and a plaid shirt is cute!

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
