sudoku, much?

to help pass the time on the 7 hour drive to the yoopee kris' newest obsession is the puzzle known as sudoku ( and yes, my favorite way to pass the time it to take photos while driving :-) ).

i must be living under a rather large rock because until a few weeks ago, i had never heard of the game which has apparently been all the rage for quite some time. and while the mathematics of sudoku is interesting ( who would have thought that an algorithm used in x-ray diffraction microscopy could be used to solve the puzzles? ) it probably would be best if i didn't start given i had to check myself into puzzler rehab after a particularly brutal tetris bender years ago.

no sir, i am not going to download the sudoku macintosh dashboard widget or the sudoku susser and i am certainly not ever going to print out the self-described "horric" puzzles from the daily mail.

I'd definitely recommend avoiding the puzzles here then: Samurai Sudoku

The sudoku widget is highly addicting. Even worse are the 5 puzzles connected into one massive sudoku that are in the Sunday Washington Post - each of 4 connected by the corners to a central one. They take the whole week to get through! cari c

This is another sudoku website with colours very easy to use.

But, you should also avoid it.

Never play Sudoku

It's not interesting to know how to play !

A short animation ... please, don't click here : The rule of sudoku

And I don't like to write comments !

I try to limit myself to the very hard puzzles, or to doing them on the plane. Great filler when electronic devices are not allowed to be operated.

My wife got me a book of "hard" puzzles for christmas but they turned out not to be that hard. There's also a number of decent Sudoku programs for the palm/treo, which is handy when on the go.

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
