the eric update - day 933: life's little moments, very occasionally photographed.

to those that care about such things ( and since you're reading this i presume you might be one of those that do care ), i feel i must apologize for how quiet it has been around here lately. thanks to the "real" job ( which is going fantastically ), the "other real job" ( read: contracting/consulting ), keeping up with (not) new year's resolutions ( long story, but i'm finding it's taking longer than i thought to get my knee to cooperate with running, but i am walking 30 miles a week and should be on track to start running soon ), miscellaneous side projects ( some of which might see the light of day Real Soon ) and, of course, parenting, i'm having a ( hopefully temporary ) difficut time keeping up with chronicling odin's adventures.

and by adventures, i mean life's little moments, like excitedly telling me about his day at preschool or how he helped make me a batch of snickerdoodle cookies almost all by himself, or wearily proclaiming that "it's o.k. poppi." when i tell him i have to go to the store to get him some medicine to stop him ear from hurting ( presumably the result of a head cold and not an ear infection ) or running up to me to give me a hug because "poppi likes hugs" or any of the innumerable "little" things that happen each and every single day.

like trying to figure out how to rinse and stack the dishes faster than mamma puts them in the rinse bin ( yes, we're luddites and don't own a dishwasher ).

"it is hard to be brave," said piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." rabbit, who had begun to write very busily, looked up and said: "it is because you are a very small animal that you will be Useful in the adventure before us."

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
