ex machina

the eric update - day 1464: odin and evie fly kites for the very first time! outtake.

1/10 of a second before "disaster" strikes. if you look closely you'll see the kite strings have become entangled and evelyn's kite is just about to crash to the ground.

her crashing kite startled odin - who couldn't see what was going on because he was looking the other day - and he let go his kite.

the 20 m.p.h. wind gusts quickly propelled the kite out off the beach and across the parking lot; one of odin's cousins took chase and tripped over evie's kite suffering a very minor injury.

and, of course, both odin and evie were temporarily mortified at the prospect of kite flying being brought to such a sudden end.

poppi, mamma and an aunt were able to use their superhero powers to retrieve the kite, unravel the kite string and get things flying in very short order.

[ about ]

this site chronicles the continuing adventures of my son, odin, who was unexpectedly born on the fourth of july at 25 weeks gestation, weighing 1 pound 7 ounces.

he's quite a fighter and you can always send him a postcard to the most current address listed here if you're inspired by his adventures. see the postcard project/google maps mashup to see a map of the postcards.

if you're new, you can browse the archives to catch up. and don't forget to watch a few movies that i made while we were in the neonatal intensive care unit. or if you want the abridged version and you can find a copy, you can read about his adventures in the november 2005 issue of parents magazine.
